Dave made a cardboard maze that's bigger on the inside. Also, there's a minotaur. And deadly traps, probably should have mentioned the deadly traps.

It manages some really genuinely scary moments inbetween the more lighthearted violence and jokes. I don't want to spoil them here but like, yeah this movie gets what it's trying to do.

Grossness: 5/5

While not gross in the traditional sense, every set and special effect were made entierly out of cardboard to absolutely stunning effect. And I do mean everything, down to red streamer blood. It's an absolutely insane idea with amazing execution. It's not Cronenberg levels of gore, but it is insanely well done and I can't help but marvel over the work that went into making this movie.

Good Time: 4/5

The writing is good, the characters are interesting, and the jokes land. It has some really interesting things to say about the creative process if you're into that kind of thing. Honestly just watch this movie for the novelty of a movie that's basically entierly constructed out of cardboard. Go watch it now. It's on youtube. Watch the movie.

I have simplifed the summary partially because I think this is the kind of movie you should go into blind, and partially because the plot is really just kind of simple. Dave made a maze, what more do you need to know?

The themes presented in this movie really hit hard for me in a way they won't for everyone. I acknowledge I'm biased in favour of this movie. Not everyone gets the maze. They look at your tiny cardboard box and don't understand how you could be trapped inside. Don't understand why you won't just come out and help them clean up, don't get why you built a maze in the first place. I understand the maze, Dave, I get it.
